The Roundhouse Chalk Farm London

16.43

The Roundhouse, Chalk Farm, London.

Collecting our pals at the Marriott, their hotel simultaneously in both Swiss Cottage & Regent’s Park, arriving 12.45, leaving 12.58 for a very tasty lunch in a Turkish restaurant at Primrose Hill.

Onto the Roundhouse & arriving while Paul Weller was soundchecking. The Humans are one act of several performing at this Haiti Benefit.

Our get-on call is 17.30 for a 16.40 – 19.00 set.

Terrrible & ongoing smoke blew along the dressing rooms’ corridor: the back door was open for smokers, smoking in the open doorway, and the wind blowing the smoke back into & along the corridor: smoke for compulsory sharing with any other breathing creature.

There seemed to be no stage director or overseeing-person to maintain the schedule. Our get-on was late, soundcheck was late, performance 20 minutes late, from 19.00- 19.20. Mucho scrabbling & heroism from our Team of Paul, Adrian & Sylvain to get us on in a timely & functioning fashion I…

A strong 20-minute Humans set. Filming, flashes, photos, all the paraphernalia of a rock concert, which this was. Loud & rocking. And The Humans rocked out.

Returning to our dressing room, booked for 10 minutes after our show endtime, the next performers were already in there; not ideal when the new act are all male & the act about to leave has a female who needs to change. But, the show was set up in a hurry, and this is what it is.

John went to get the car, we loaded in c. 19.50 & set off home I…

Dropping the Wongmeister at his nearby cottage lodgings & back here for supper.

A good day. The Minx is very happy. Once she steps on stage, she is in her element.

To gentle, while gently dribbling.
